Saturday, what a day!

Ok, shoes off, window open (because it's so hot in here, baby), music on courtesy of a fantastic local online radio station MuthFM, ... lets rock... sit back, open your eyes, enjoy the ride....

doef doef doef...

Let me tell you about my Saturday, and what a long interesting busy day it was, by my standards anyway...

dot dot dot (my signature writing style) ! Ja ok admittedly I've had a few 'alcoholic beverages' along the way, exponentially most recently. Just deal with it! I'm honest as a judge - no that don't work.... priest - fuck they're pretty dodgy these days too... virgin... like Madonna!...  NO,...  ja as honest as an ANC politician... ok now you're taking the piss de Klerk! Ha ha!

Anyway, true story:

Was woken up at around 6am by the cutest most adorable little happy face in the world, Tammy, whispering in my face "daddy, daddy are you awake?", as she often does on weekend mornings. Of course I opened my eyes and saw this and beamed with joy at seeing my little sweetheart smiling at me, but being the doos I can be sometimes, unintentionally, I said "No, I'm still sleeping, but come for a cuddle" and I yanked her up and over between her mom and me, and tried to fall back asleep!

As if...

She promptly kicked my blankets off me in defiance and rolled off the bed and headed for her room to get some toys.

I fell back asleep.

Next thing she was back in my bed, with Ellie, Raffie, 17 Barbies, and a load of wooden puzzles, all being described in succession as they landed on my head!

I tried to ignore the procession for a while but soon gave in to the demands for attention and took the Tamonster downstairs for breakfast and a bottle of tea!

Bla bla bla, pass the morning drama...

After being late, as usual (my fault for a rare change! I prepared the family to leave by 10am to be there for 10h30 while I MADE THE BOOKING for 10am so leaving late at 10h15 of course we only got there at 10h40 after driving like the proverbial bat out of hell!) we raced of irresponsibly to the Meerendal Wine Estate to meet Granny Lindsay (my mom) and her boyfriend Arthur for breakfast. What an awesome place, perfect weather in a beautiful setting; breakfast was in the manor house, food details:
  • Liezel & I had the Meerendal Breakfast: 2 over-fried eggs, brown bread toast, fried tomato, deliciously fatty bacon, a big (mine was rather rubbery) mushroom, etc, incl the most delicious sausages x 2. Overall a pretty decent breakfast!
  • Mom had the poached egg with salmon and some delicious looking cream-cheese stuff on top!
  • Arthur had the Healthy breakfast including what looked like a mountain of muesli and fuck knows whatever else, I didn't wanna stare!
  • Tammy had a kiddies (2 egg) plate of scrambled eggs on toast with dinosaur (tomato) sauce and she robbed Liez and me of some sausage. Her meal was perfect for a 3-year old!
Over-all it was a delicious breakfast in a beautiful traditional wineland farmhouse setting!

Then we took a walk down through the publically open areas of the farm and took Tammy down to the sheep and the awesome tame horses! Tams had a ball, of course, as 3 year olds do, running around excitedly working off her usual immeasurable energy! The stupid looking sheep were funny as fuck, though Tambelina LOVED the horses! They were so tame, both had their heads through the fence happily being stroked and chatted to while the spotted brown one arrogantly took a good long piss that nearly flooded the field! Though I think I was the only one that noticed this, and the photo shows nothing! I SWEAR - TRUE STORY!!! Nevertheless Granny had fun with Tams and the farm animals.

Heading back up through the fields mom and Arthur looked like a couple of love-struck teenagers cuddling and snuggling as far as they walked, clearly in love and happy to be together, though mom seemed to be in overdrive show-off paradise parading her absolutely perfect grandchild around, she nearly burst with pride when Tammy took Arthur to show him a spider that she'd found, ignoring the rest of us!

We had a lovely time together, for me it was nice to see Arthur again after 19 years. I was wrong when I told him today it was 17 years, I was 15 when I last saw him when him and mom were 'friends', I'm 34 now! Unless my math is wrong, again!

Anyway, history aside, we both aged visibly since, with plenty of stories to tell from both sides, he's an awesome bloke with a lot of knowledge I'd love to tap into sometime, given the opportunity! I'm just happy to see mom the happiest I've seen her in a long time!

After breakfast we departed ways with promises of meetings in the near future!

Got home and I got on a mission to CLEAN...

I cleaned up downstairs, cleared the mountains of toys, washed dishes, cleaned kitchen, vacuumed EVERYTHING, then headed to the yard to mow the lawn, pull out weeds, wash the paving & braai, etc, shower, dress and be ready to go, all in 2 hours, while Liezel slept and Tammy watched on, hopefully absorbing a few lessons in future chores!

Next chapter:

Jessica, Tammy's only cousin.
{new cold beer} {new music - muthafm doef doef stuff got monotonous and rather boring - time for the HEAVY stuff - Disturbed: Asylum!} My current favourite song! Heavy-heart stuff, brilliant music but after the experience I had this week in the UCT Medical Science Anatomy building, I saw literally hundreds of dead human bodies and dissected parts of, including the skeletal remains of thousands of unnamed people. I am not the same person I was nor do I see life as I did a week ago. But that's another story, which I'll blog about in detail soon! But it freaked the fucking piss out of me for days afterwards!!!!

That said I still love my heavy metal!!! Mostly for the drumming!

==============================================

About that new chapter.... we went over to my brother Warryn (& his lovely wife Nadia & little Jessica's) place for dinner because dad is down from Gaborone for an annual Mining conference in Cape Town. Warryn & family chose to host the gathering at their very cool pozzie, ,my superstar little brother did a brilliant lamb potjie!

Not to steal his recipe, because I'm not, this is only what I saw:
Cutest kid in town!
No. 3 pot, heated oil, fried onions & then meat, after  10 minutes he started chucking in a whole plethora of ingredients including whole baby potatoes, after that I missed the rest of the fresh veg & 'secret' sauce that went in...

Bathtime.
Grandpa & Tammy
The end result was a perfect stew of fall-off-the-bone lamb and fresh succulent vegetables in a perfectly balanced sauce of immeasurable deliciousness! Well done little brother, awesome pot! I feel the insecure need to compete sometime! Even my own wife admitted in a diplomatic way that she enjoyed yours more than my last pot! No worries, I do not feel betrayed, only compelled to pull off a culinary Voortrekker masterpiece with a unique thunder the next time I do a pot!

Stoopid cat sleeping in the bathroom basin!
Brother Warryn feeding a hungry baby!
That said, shot bro for an awesome evening to you and Nadia! Thanks for hosting us all with dad's annual February visit, it was really cool to have us all together again at your place! Great to see the old man again with his granddaughters! He's clearly besotted over them and it's fun to watch!
Also from my part I really enjoy spending time with dad these days! He's become quite a fun chilled oke to spend time with! I feel comfortable spending time with him lately like I never did before! It's gonna be lekker having Ronny & dad down the road one of these days permanently!

Shame, Tammy was gutted this morning when she heard Granny Ronny wasn't going to be there today! She actually cried quite heartbroken "I want to see my granny Ronny, I love my granny Ronny". I wish Ronny could've heard that, it was really sweet and heartfelt!

Anyway, bring on Easter in Witsand....
